Goals at CineMart
 Our main goal for CineMart is to find new opportunities for financing our film. We are looking for European co-producers as well as seeking a sales agent that would position the film in the festival market and would distribute it around the world.Synopsis
 Frida's (16) parents died when she was very little. She was adopted by her maternal uncle and, at that moment, she lost contact with her biological dad&rsquo;s family. After 10 years, Frida travels to Vigo in order to meet this branch of her family. She wants to understand the reasons of this long silence, but she mostly wants to learn about her past.For a week, her uncle Xacobo, his wife and his three sons set Frida on a tour of encounters with her &ldquo;new family&rdquo;. She first meets her father&rsquo;s sisters, two local fashion designers with a lot of children.&nbsp;They give Frida nice clothes but never mention her dad. She then meets &Aacute;lvaro, the closest brother of her dad who still lives in the past. He tries to explain some stories to Frida but he gets too emotional and cannot finish any sentence. Finally, the teenager meets her grandparents. The visit doesn&rsquo;t meet her expectations. In a house where there isn&rsquo;t a single picture of her dad, Frida feels hosted distantly and coldly. The complex emotions the teenager feels during this trip are comforted through the delicate love tension that she establishes with her cousin Antoi&ntilde;o, who seems to be the living image of Frida&rsquo;s father. Progressively, the protagonist understands that her family cannot answer her questions about the past. They&rsquo;re all too resentful about her parents&rsquo; stories of drugs, heroin and AIDS. However, the letters that Frida&rsquo;s mother wrote while she was living in Vigo and a long walk across the town, will connect the girl to her origins. If Frida cannot find the truth of the past through her relatives&rsquo; stories, at least she can build a version of it through her own imagination. In this dreamy past, her parents had fascinating lives that Frida decides not to judge.Accepting the pain of a family who sees her as a ghost coming from the past, Frida goes back home with a truthful sense of belonging to her adoptive family.Director's Biography
 Carla Sim&oacute;n was born in 1986, in a small Catalan village, part of an extensive family that is a bottomless pit of stories, relationships, feelings and entanglements. Watching and listening to all these stories is how she decided to make films. Carla graduated in Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat Aut&ograve;noma of Barcelona, after a year at the University of California. Awarded with a scholarship of &ldquo;La Caixa&rdquo;, she moved to the UK to study at the London Film School. There, she wrote and directed the short films&nbsp;Born Positive,&nbsp;Lipstick,&nbsp;Las peque&ntilde;as cosas&nbsp;and&nbsp;Llacunes, a very personal experimental film made with her mum&rsquo;s letters.&nbsp;Summer 1993&nbsp;is Carla&rsquo;s autobiographical debut. It tells the story of Frida, a six-years-old girl who just lost her mother and has to move in with her new family. It premiered at the 2017 Berlinale, where it received the Best First Film Award and the Generation Kplus Grand Prix. The film has collected more than 30 prizes all over the world. It was selected to represent Spain for the Oscars Academy Awards, it was nominated&nbsp;for the Discovery European Film Award and it won 3 Goyas. Carla also received the Women in Motion emerging talent&nbsp;prize in Cannes in 2018.Alcarr&agrave;s&nbsp;is her second feature, which took part in the Cannes Residency, Nipkow Program and the Torino Film Lab, where it won the CNC Award. It also participated at Berlinale Co-Production Market, where it got the Eurimages Development Award. It was in pre-production before the COVID-19 crisis. While waiting for the right time to shoot, Carla started developing&nbsp;Romer&iacute;a.Besides and while teaching film to youngsters, Carla shot the HIV campaign&nbsp;If Then Else&nbsp;and the short&nbsp;Correspondance, co-directed with Dominga Sotomayor, which had its world premiere at the 2020 Visions du R&eacute;el. It was screened&nbsp;at the 2020 New York Film Festival, 2020 San Sebasti&aacute;n International Film Festival and it received the Best Short Award at the 2020 Mar del Plata International Film Festival.
