I diari di Angela – Noi due cineasti. Capitolo secondo

After the death of his film and life partner Angela Ricci Lucchi in early 2018, Yervant Gianikian shot I diari di Angela – Noi due cineasti. A moving, exhaustive montage in which film and video footage of their life, work and travels is combined with words and drawings from her diaries. Capitolo secondo is a natural sequel to this.

Gianikian primarily provides insight into the filmmakers’ lives. A report on their travels and meetings in the USA, occasioned by a screening of their films from the late 1970s onward, provides insight into the latter, their artistic, historical and political mission and, as a result, also alternative film culture. The second part covers a visit to Jerusalem, eternal point of contention for religious zeal and political fanaticism. The third is Ricci Lucchi’s illustrated memory of her childhood in a house at the front during World War II.
