sound//vision is IFFR’s innovative, experimental late-night programme, made up of four evenings and nights of live A/V performances in WORM.

The final sound//vision 2019 night will open with audio-visual performance Taran by the Czech trio David Šmitmajer, Jiří Rouš and František Týmal. Together they will reconstruct the first dogfight in which a pilot used his aircraft as a battering ram (taran in Russian). The trio will conjure up this event from 1914 using experimental analogue film projections and live animation, combined with analogue sound processing performed in situ – a purely physical experience.

The BAZOOKA collective was founded by guitarists Andy Moor (The Ex) and Jasper Stadhouders to play interpretations of popular Angolan guitar music from the 1960s and 1970s. The songs are stripped back to their essence and played with rhythmic, choppy riffs, polyrhythmic drums and percussion atop a pulsating bass. The collective for this performance will consist of bassist Colin McLean (ex-Dog Faced Hermans), drummer Onno Govaert and percussionist George Hadow. Fradique Bastos, filmmaker and member of the Angolan filmmakers collective Geração 80 will provide the visuals.

After the performance programme, DJ Moetdat from Rotterdam will take over.
