Prior to the screening of Tel Aviv on Fire, Dr. Isabel Awad, Associate Professor Media and Communication at Erasmus University Rotterdam, gives an introductory lecture in English on the relationship between media and social justice. Tel Aviv on Fire is a comedy about a TV employee who tries to influence a romantic soap. It captures the Arab-Israeli conflict in a surprisingly witty way.

Dr. Isabel Awad is Associate Professor at the Department of Media and Communication. Her research focuses on the conditions for democratic communication and social justice against a backdrop of social inequality. She is specifically interested in inequalities rooted in notions of cultural and racial superiority and in neoliberalism. No specific foreknowledge needed.
