Slackers Angelino and his friend Vinz live in a roach-infested apartment. Outside, they keep a low profile so as not to be riddled with bullets by Shakespeare-quoting gangsters. The guys live in Dark Meat City, inspired it seems by the game Grand Theft Auto, but then anime-style and inhabited by outrageous characters. To make things crazier, Angelino is being followed by the Men in Black, has super-powers and sees monster shadows accompanying passers-by.

French-spoken Mutafukaz is an energetic animation alternating stylised violence with self-conscious jokes and arch references to old fight games and genre films, all set to a high-energy electronic soundtrack. Flashing words question what the hell’s going on, wrestlers prove to be secret global guardians and ice cream is used as ammunition. And beneath this insane mix of styles there is even a political-ecological message.
