French-Belgian duo Cattet-Forzani (Amer, L'étrange couleur des larmes de ton corps) do it again with this in-your-face genre mix: violent crime, a hint of eroticism and a dash of Western.
A spooky ruin on the Mediterranean harbours an explosive group. Society-hating artist Madame Luca lives with washed-up writer Max, and looks on as Rhino's gang arrive. A suitcase full of gold, two leather-clad motorcycle cops and other uninvited guests lead to a merciless confrontation.
All depicted in a heightened visual style used as standard, e.g. in scenes consisting of a fusillade of extreme close-ups. Paradise becomes a battlefield where betrayal clashes with erotica and visions of naked bodies painted in gold merge with the sound of gunfire and creaking leather.
