IFFR Presents: Sustainable Criticism

This year, Critics’ Choice provides a platform and playground for researching the concept of 'sustainable' criticism. Curators Jan Pieter Ekker and Dana Linssen will talk to a variety of experts and practitioners about the rethinking of film criticism in the post-truth and #metoo era. Topics will range from film criticism beyond the opinion of the industry and service economy to the politically fueled social distrust of journalism and art in general. This session will not only map the dilemmas and obstacles facing film journalism, but also evaluate the various experiments around innovative and transformative new practices and strategies for film critics presented during the festival.
