Louis Henderson (1983, UK) is an artist and filmmaker whose works investigate connections between colonialism, technology, capitalism and history. Henderson graduated from London College of Communication with a first-class BA honours in 2007, from Le Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains with a special mention from the jury in 2013, and in 2016 completed a Superior Diploma in Research in Art from the European School of Visual Arts.
In his recent research he seeks to formulate an archaeological method within film practice. To do this, he explores the potential for technologically induced animist experience within cinema. This creates a way to release revolutionary collective modes of being that can work towards the decolonisation of thought in, about and through cinema. Rotterdam has presented films by Louis Henderson since 2011. His most recent work, Sunstone, made in collaboration with fellow artist Filipa César, has its festival premiere at IFFR 2018.
