In addition to being a filmmaker, musicologist, anthropologist and bohemian, Harry Everett Smith was also a specialist in string figures and a dedicated collector of paper aeroplanes. He finally donated his collection to the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum.
Both passions were extensively documented in two books. PrintRoom pays homage to this fanatical collector and, to mark the two books, organises workshops and a lecture about string figures, flip books and paper aeroplanes.
