A clash between Life and Death, somewhere in a small Brazilian seaside town. The teenagers Shirley and Jeison fill their languid August days working on a coconut plantation. In their free time, he dives for lobsters and octopus while she lies in the sun on the boat. And then Jeison brings up a skull.
Gabriel Mascaro is a promising director from the flourishing film scene in the Brazilian city of Recife, which in recent years for instance also produced the Tiger-Award nomination Neighbouring Sounds.
Against the background of emerging tropical storms, the young filmmaker, who was also responsible for the impressive camera work, sketches in his episodic narration how the youthful energy of Shirley and Jeison faces up to death. Shirley's care for her ageing grandma and the mysterious activities of a researcher who records the sounds of the rising wind provide a gently comic note.
