In three parts, articulated around three strong institutions - a theatre, a prison and a church - Narkevicius brings his narrative and fictional method of recounting history to the cinematic scale. Apart from the main story about an aspiring theater director in Vilnius, victim of the Soviet regime’s investigations of presumed homosexuality, the filmmaker also constructs a sub-narrative of the role of art and creativity within a supposed utopia.
