The film opens with Frank Cole’s grandmother dying from cancer, which he filmed, and which shows us the obsession with mortality in his work. With measured steps, the film moves to his 11-month solo journey across the Sahara. It ends with Cole’s second attempt to cross the desert alone, which led to his death.
