Film maker Jesse de Jong is unhappy in his present life. He flees his house in the city and goes to the jungle to get a taste of life. With his small digital camera in his hand, he talks to locals and enjoys the panoramic surroundings. Once he gets home, he changes tack: he moves to a commune in the countryside to live together and happily. But can he change the course of his life? De Jong's camera continually functions as a writing implement. It's his way of recording and philosophising about his life and that of others. It provides an intimate, whimsical and essayistic quest.
De Jong won a Tuschinski Award for his graduation film Het lege nest in 1999. A year later, his short film Een intens realistisch doch romantisch liefdesdrama won a Golden Calf.
