During a summer holiday in 1995, while Croatia is at war, the stubborn and always dissatisfied Boro drags his family from the Croatian city of Zagreb to his village of birth: Drinovci in Herzegovina. He hasn't been there for seven years. Boro doesn't want to talk to his father Pasko because he is supposedly responsible for the death of his mother. Boro continually quarrels with his wife. In the next two weeks he will have to face up to his own demons.
The men in this family drama are stubborn and selfish but cannot avoid a decisive confrontation. Emphasising dysfunctional family relationships and macho attitudes, Antonio Nuic has made a critical parable about nationalist conflicts in the region. The sweltering heat and the camera work, by Mirko Pivcevic, which who removes all green from the landscape, creates an oppressive atmosphere from which only wisdom and respect offers any escape.
