A photographic image of a glacier is gradually broken down - ‘melted’ - via a series of transformations, into an entirely abstract composition. Every time a jpg file is opened and closed it is decompressed and compressed. Hence it loses some of its original information. The artist opened the file several thousand times, saving a new copy each time.
