On the way to a small coastal resort for a short romantic holiday, Inès (Ana Katz) quarrels with her boyfriend Miguel (played by the local star Daniel Hendler). When she gets out of the bus at the destination, her boyfriend just sits there. Inès can check into the hotel on her own. Miguel doesn't turn up later either.
It's an embarrassing situation that could form the starting point for a comedy, but Katz chooses a realistic approach. Inès wrestles with herself and the situation. Should she stay and make the best of it or return to Buenos Aires? She basically doesn't choose either option. She spends most of her time involved in desperate and hopeless telephone conversations with the far-from talkative Miguel. That even goes so far that the owner of the call shop dreads her coming. Fortunately there's a nice local German (Carlos Portaluppi). He takes her along on trips in the area, but does he want anything from her, or not? And what does she want from him? What does she want from herself?
Inès is almost constantly filmed close in a beautiful widescreen format. Her despair, loneliness and indecisiveness become our own. The crucial role of Inès looks ideal for Katz. Not really surprising if you realise that she not only helped write the screenplay, but also directed and produced the film herself.
