The Boy Who Died was inspired by the story of a teenager who I photographed as part of a documentary about native youth. She worked in the fast food restaurant attached to the only grocery store in a remote arctic village. She was trying to save money to get out. A week later she was in a tragic accident and suffered extensive frostbite. Her boyfriend was killed. (JP)
