The video screen is both subject and object. Exploring appropriation and mediation, the work crosses the line between performer and viewer. Like all ambitious artworks, Superman seems disarmingly prescient (its sampling feels sharply contemporary), while simultaneously being very much of a product of its time, the self-reflexive, star-struck 1980s.
