Opera Aperta is a living book. It offers a sharply defined conclusion of the trajectory of the artist Honoré d’O. The book of rolls functions like a metaphor for the entire oeuvre. With digital technology, Honoré d’O relates text and image in a visual, rather than a purely graphic manner. For the viewer this contact between the images creates random or found associations. The rolls on the left and the right of the image protect so to speak the choice of the viewer. They add a sense of magic to what is visible, in relationship to the invisible world of the other images. It is like paper that has learned to stand on its own feet.
