The passage of time held in place. The light of another day. This piece was originally shot on 16mm film in the New York of 1970s, an era that is now as remote in some respects as ‘Ancient Egypt’ or ‘the Age of the Medicis’ as Gehr has put it. A fixed frame enlivened by the rapid transit of solar light at a tempo quicker than the natural movement of the sun. The suggestive color of language, of name, plays against the opposing color of the image and the color of time.
