From 1958 until 1965 Frits Weeda photographed the dark side of Amsterdam. Then, out of the blue, he stopped and renounced the camera.
A cheerful but at the same time melancholic documentary about a strange-feathered bird in the post-war era, a lonely boy who became part of the Rotterdam art scene of the 1950's. A portrait of a bohemian whose poetic vein almost dried up because of alcohol and drug abuse.
Almost two years ago Poland's biggest oil field was discovered under the Notecka Forest in poverty-stricken Western Poland, where 'history has started in 1945', after the Germans fled this former German province. But the mostly very poor inhabitants of the forest don't seem to care much about the oil under their feet. Where does their apathetic attitude come from?
