After That

After That was made after the long stay in hospital which delayed completion of The Lonely Hearts Club Band in September. Nagasaki starts with the fact of the motorcycle accident itself on 9 November 1980 and discusses its catastrophic effects with members of the cast and crew. But he also tries to create a new fiction, full of aimless tracking-shots through empty streets and eruptions of hyperbolic violence - only to find it haunted by the aftershocks from the crash. (TR)
