Silent Man

In his second film Pavel Ruminov continues the idea of an artist being threatened by enigmatic powers from the outside and explores the genre in more depth. A young web designer receives a letter from a certain Donald D. saying that the next Saturday will be the day when he 'must fall silent and utter no words until you are allowed', if he wants to stay alive, that is. The mysterious Donald D. insists that following these instructions is vital for the web designer and for the people whose pain 'may become a sad illustration of our reckless misbehavior caused by our usual lack of attention to significant things'. At the end of the letter, it reads: 'If you've read the message, please, let me know by lifting your right hand.' Saturday comes and the hero forgets the sinister admonishment. The final scene of this lo-fi, atmospheric digi-horror will come as quite a surprise. Don't Look Now meets Asian horror films, meets Sony DV-Cams, meets real aspects of the director's life. (AP)
