Three short films that form a coherent part of a continuing series entitled Evil, or even The Return of Evil. Cokes borrows his material, usually texts, from public sources. Most come from the Internet. He isolates the texts and gives them an extremely effective graphic form. He allows them to speak for themselves and supports them with contemporary music often also found on the Internet. The films are about the present foreign policy of the United States, about the distorted portrayal of the state of affairs in Iraq, about coping with torture by American soldiers, etc. They are outspokenly political films, but they have a stylised and innovative form all their own. Enlarging and isolating certain texts resists forgetting. In this way the films are no less than small memory machines.
