The time in which a young TV drama scriptwriter was supposed to finish his new script is almost at an end. He faces the deepest creative crisis in his career. No inspiration. No time. No hope. The investors demand his head. His last chance is an old Romanian cupboard. Deadline is a little thriller about the way a text is born. The word 'deadline' in this case also has a literary meaning: if the hero doesn't manage to finish his task in time, he will be killed. The film smartly reflects the situation of a Russian filmmaker nowadays, who often is financed by Mafia structures. Ruminov: 'The microscopic budget gives rise to a wide diversity of obstacles and it is exactly this that you need to begin perfecting your craft through decisive and efficient methods. The digital film maker is free of the film gloss safety as well as other formal tricks. In fact, the only weapon he possesses is his ability of storytelling. Such a face-to-face clash with an audience may turn out to be rather painful, but is still indispensable for a first-timer.' (AP)
