The plot binding the film is that of the `Romani kris' (court of justice ), where the main character, 13-year-old Angelo (Angelo Evans), wants to preserve the pride of the family by recovering a stolen family ring no matter how. The film is an amazing portrayal of the New York Gypsy community shot in a documentary style, played by the Gypsies themselves, in improvised dialogues and in their own language. It is a very rare picture of a city Gypsy community with neither caravans, nor horses but with all the clichés known about them (school attendance refusal, conning clients who're having their fortune read, shoplifting new clothing or stealing a chicken). And probably the first full-length film focusing on them made outside Europe.
