Portrait of a man damaged both physically and mentally, in the way only Donigan Cumming can make it. Without shirking the most confrontational issues, but also with a genuine commitment to his subject: a man, Gerry, who seems to have everything against him. The film maker calls it an autobiography because Gerry, despite all his handicaps - with the absence of a larynx providing the title - himself points the way in the film.
