The Fares family is well on form in Kopps, the second film by the Swedish-Lebanese talent Josef Fares. Brother Fares Fares plays Jakob, one of the protagonists, and also Father Fares has a humorous supporting role. Anyone who has seen Josef Fares' début film Jalla! Jalla! knows what to expect: a comedy filled with pace and romance. This time Fares also makes effective use of special effects. Many spectacular fight scenes and bullets that bore their way through the air in slow motion (à la The Matrix). Exactly as it should be in a police film and therefore also in a parody of one. There is only one minor problem for the cops in Kopps: crime in their village just doesn't seem to get off the ground. The activities of the police force in Hogbodorna mainly consist of breakfast (hotdog waffles) coffee drinking coffee (with hotdog waffles), lunch (...) and lots and lots more coffee. Peace and quiet is the dream of every politician, but for the Swedish authorities, the lack of crooks is reason to close the local police post. In order to save their jobs, Jakob and his colleagues try to boost the crime figures on their own. They promote the village drunkard to shoplifter, shoot some bullets into the woods and start a fire - which unfortunately costs them their hotdog waffle stand. Everything soon gets out of hand and a SWAT team from the big city comes to take care of the dangerous gang...
