Visibility is overrated, like fame. Song and Dance (and a good movie) is an installation in four parts. First of all, a screening of Andy Warhol's film Paul Swan, followed by three portraits using black light paint so they are only visible when the normal exhibition lights fade and black light illuminates the room. The third part is the performance of David Bowie's Hunky Dory in its entirety. The final section is the live re creation of the last scene from Claire Denis' Beau travail in which Denis Lavant dances in a disco. For this part Wampler made a replica of the set, learned the choreography and, costumed as Denis Lavant, executes the dance.
