îA meditative quest by the film-maker for the intangible recent history of her Jewish ancestors, in the form of the sober sightseeing tour of Polish Holocaust monuments, a meeting with her grandmother and the fictional memoirs of her great aunt who must have died in Treblinka. The poetic images, rational texts and dreamy music are wonderfully successful in blowing new life into a story that literally went up in smoke.
