The first screen-specific installation by Kentridge. In this case, the found screen is a medicine chest, which also sets the theme of the piece. A reflection on the self - both literally the self reflected in the mirror, as in the self-portraits in the film- and also an idea about the self. As usual with Kentridge, the piece presents a visual evocation of the incoherent and contradictory ways we construct a sense of ourselves.
