Outsider Yevgeni Yufit is a one-man representative of a kind of cinema known as 'Necro-realism' and that is inculcated with a Nihilism that is diametrically oposed to Social-realism. On the subject of this strange film genre, the Moscow film reporter Olga Ljalina once said: 'In the mid-eighties, when Soviet film was in the last stages of decay and European film exploited the theme of one's own death struggle in every way possible, Yufit and consorts created a true dead film art, entirely in accordance with the moment. The picture quality had no significance at all. The late cinema had as little consideration for the viewers as for itself. The mainconstituents were: a poetry of total lunacy, film material past its sell-by date and male corpses as only heroes.'Silver Heads is a tranquil film full of pseudo-actions, bizarre conclusions and with an obsession for (pseudo-) science and human (non)sense. In a super-secret bunker, hidden in an overgrown forest, a group of scientists carries out a unique investigation: They experiment on each other in order to make a new kind of human with supernatural powers. Part of the experiment is to cross a man with a tree. Mysterious and deadly bacteria however destroy the soul of the scientists, after which they turn into murder machines.
