Five young men aged about twenty form a tight group of friends. So there is a major panic when one of them, Nabil, dies during a quarrel that gets out of hand. The friends clear away the body and decide to keep silent to the outside world about what happened, but their friendship is tested to the utmost. Then they meet Pierrot and Madonna, two loners who have just met and, as a result of a joke played by the group, get married to each other. In the end Pierrot and Madonna turn into a symbol of love and hope for the group. With a secure hand, the Tunisian director paints the world of the young people. The group is fairly well off and heads off on motorbike trips along the coast. Conflicts with elders seem to form the only blemish on their carefree lives. The film excels in clear, transparent colours and a balanced narrative style. At first the tone is light and warm-hearted, but their idyllic friendship is rudely disrupted by the death of Nabil. Several portrayals are striking, especially that of Pierrot, played by Mess Hattou, well know from e.g. Salut Cousin(1996).
