Presentation with the makers of the new-media installations on show in the Exploding Cinema programme: Be Now Here by Michael Naimark, The Dream Machine by MIT Interactive Cinema Group & Glorianna Davenport and Artificial Changelings by Toni Dove and Simon Penny, who made an interactive cinematographic 360-degree environment for the ZKM in Karlsruhe. Glorianna Davenport is professor of Media Arts and Sciences, at the MIT Media Lab, where she has taught since 1978 and does research in the field of designing and producing interactive multimedia, computer-aided cinematographic narrative techniques etc. Toni Dove (New York) is a performance and installation artist who works with the new media. Her work, including Mesmer - The Secrets of the Human Face (1990) and The Blessed Abyss (1992) has been seen at e.g. the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Michael Naimark (1957) worked for twelve years as independent media artist. He was one of the leading lights in the development of the first interactive laserdiscs in the late seventies. He has chairs at important American institutes, including MIT.
