Alexandre Rockwell, the director of Louis & Frank, has previously had a major hit at the Rotterdam festival with In The Soup. After that he was responsible for one part of Four Rooms. Louis & Frank is a comedy about two very different cousins who played in the same doo-wop band in their youth. Since then their ways have parted. Louis (Steven Randazzo) has started a family and a removal company, while Frank (Francesco Messina) has gone to live with his mother in Sicily and is training to be a beautician. When Frank steps back into his cousin's life one day, convinced it is time to rekindle the flames of their singing career, all hell breaks loose. The cautious Louis is driven to despair by the unbridled optimism of Frank, who is convinced that the 'Bitchin DiBuffonis' will be a world sensation. He introduces his cousin to the eccentric impresario Lenny Star Springer (Tony Curtis), who works on the side as undercover cop. That leads to a comic trip round the bizarre side of New York nightlife, from bowling alleys in New Jersey to transvestite bars in the West Village, where a long-haired Steve Buscemi is doing a strange work-out...
