Bounce ko gals is set in Shibuya, a district of Tokyo where many secondary-school girls gather, as 'ko gals' (call girls). The day only really starts after school finishes at three p.m. Jonko goes looking for friends and Raku accompanies Maru to the abortion clinic and then goes shopping. Raku leaves Maru to play a role in a pinku film. Maru picks up a punter who turns out to be a gangster; he wants her to work for him. When Jonko wants to negotiate on Maru's behalf, she is warned: either they both go and work for the Yakuza or not at all. In other words, a day like any other.Lisa, a girl who Raku meets at the porn shoot, is special. She radiates something pure and hopeful, making her stand out from the other ko gals. Lisa wants to go to New York to start a new life, but then all her savings are stolen during the shoot. Raku decides to help offer the penniless Lisa some financial help, because there's no point in arriving in New York destitute. Together they pick up two 'salarymen' and go to a karaoke-bar. Time is short, they need money...Bounce ko gals is a light and biting social satire, that shares the harsh, violent realism of films like Kids and La haine. Yet the film is dominated by a humorous and lyrical view of young idealism and hope.
