Blue Moon is about the producer A-Gua, the writer Cuenshu and the modern young woman Yifang who live in a big city and fight a battle for everyday existence there. The main question in the film is: would these three people, if they had the chance, be able to change the apparently inevitable direction of their lives? Would their lives be the same if they bumped into someone earlier or later, if a certain judgement was made earlier or later?Blue Moon is not the portrayal of one story, but of all possible stories between two men and a woman. These 'all possible stories' should be taken very literally in this case: the five reels of Blue Moon are shown in a random order at each screening, so the stories of the three protagonists look different each time. One of the possible stories: Cuenshu, a divorced writer, could be absolutely happy with his music, his cup of tea and his books. However all his plans are scuppered when two buskers send him in a different direction and he becomes involved in a street battle between the police and gangsters. The title of the film refers to the same as the English expression, namely the second full moon in one month, a natural phenomenon that, rare as it is, gives you a second chance in life.
