Animation version of Tsui Hark's feature annex box-office hit from 1987. For its development and production, Tsui Hark moved a complete Silicon Graphics production studio from the US to Hong Kong. The result is a visually stunning fairy-tale that excels in 3D special effects combined with the latest animation techniques.Long ago, in an ancient and mysterious country where heaven and the underworld meet, there was a young man, a money collector, called Ning. His girlfriend Lan saw Ning so little that she eventually decided to marry someone else. On her wedding day, she gave Ning all his possessions back, including his dog Solid Gold. Ning goes off on a journey with his dog through incredible worlds. He comes across two monks, White Cloud and Ten Miles, who work together as ghost-busters. When Ning reaches Vainly Beautiful City, he meets the female ghost Shine. She is a follower of Madame Trunk, a mean and hungry ghost who needs fresh human ghosts to keep her beauty. Ning and Shine plan to live happily ever after their rebirth. But in the meantime, they have to watch out of the Void Hammers: ghosts who are able to wipe away all their memories. When they reach the reincarnation gate, the lovers from the two different worlds agree on a pact that makes it possible for them to stay together for ever.
