Eddie Hartmann thinks he's a great guy, but is really only a great drinker. He works as gravedigger and assistant funeral director. His not very exciting existence is also ruined by his wife, who openly cheats on him. Eddie dreams of killing his wife. An affair with his old love Olga blossoms again when her husband Theo is killed in a car crash. This Theo, a detective writer without success, turns out to be anything but dead. He arranged the car crash, assisted by his mistress Jennifer and the funeral director Mehlig. The three conspirators want to kill the elderly, stinking rich and slightly senile husband of Jennifer - which shouldn't be difficult for someone who's dead. Things don't get any easier when Theo is posthumously awarded the important 'Golden Cannon' prize for his books. When Eddie finds out that Theo is still alive, his reaction causes chaos and misery.Volker Einrauch: 'People make their immoral plans, but chaos is waiting around the corner. I like the prosaic black humour of the screenplay and tried to shoot it with rock and roughness, like a modern short story.'
