The energetic and idiosyncratic film-maker Mohsen Makhmalbaf is followed by his portrayer Houshang Golmakani during a journey through his unruly oeuvre. Golmakani filmed the cineaste in his home situation and on the set of his films. Specially for Rotterdam Golmakani made an updated version of his portrait: he added shots of Makhmalbaf on the set of the recent films Salaam Cinema (also at the festival) and Gabbe. Another addition is a conversation between Makhmalbaf and Werner Herzog. The film is dedicated to the wife and children of Makhmalbaf who died several years ago when the controversial film-maker's house was set alight.
