Jack Stevenson: 'The original Naked Jailbait Massacre was a discombobulating 80-minute show of organised "chaos", consisting of trailers, clips, footage and obscure short subjects that I cooked up for a screening at Amsterdam's Desmet Theatre in April 1993 and dumped into the grave (dismantled) directly thereafter. The show was envisioned as an intoxicating and disconcerting cacophony of recklessly misappropriated movie images and sounds sewn together by a clumsy celluloid surgeon (me) to create a free-associating Frankenstein of a show: lumbering, uncouth and jerky but oddly capable of unlikely moments of emotions. The musical analogy tempts: film-editor playing the part of celluloid-DJ, or better yet a low-rent Beethoven composing a symphony of the absurd with a 16mm hand splicer instead of a baton, creating a haunting disharmony from lost, grime-encrusted nuggets of film history rather than orchestrating classic instrumentation.'
