The life of Laura, a woman in her mid-twenties, is dominated by uncertainty. After a stay with a group of people in a squat that misfires, she has now taken a room in Amsterdam with her elder friend Anna. She has a relationship with the handsome young photographer Philippe, who however continuously cheats on her with other women. She is quite a good singer in a new-wave band, but on the crucial morning when the band has to audition for a recording contract, she had lost her voice. She occasionally finds rest with Simon, an elderly uncle who has always taken an interest in her. She regularly stays in his house in northern Spain. He also helps make her familiar with classical music.Laura narrates her existence via the memories of the three people closest to her: Simon, Philippe and Anna. These memories are coloured and comprise short fragmentary thoughts. With a certain tenderness and concern, they think back on Laura, who is no more. In the thoughts them remember both minor incidents that characterise Laura's personality and the moments that may have shaped her existence and the doubt she suffered. In the more objective 'reconstructed' memories, Simon, Philippe and Anna see themselves in the third person. The viewer also gets to know Laura via her their spontaneous, subjective memories in which they are the first person. On the soundtrack the voices of the three accompany their images of Laura.
