As contrary, witty and absurd as only Herbert Achternbusch can be in Bavarian. was shot during and at the Oktoberfest in Munich. The film-maker dressed up as a policeman and exposed the Fest-goers to his mockery an absurdity. The style and humour of Achternbusch are far from mundane and have outspoken opponents as well as fans. For instance, received one of the bluntest and most cantankerous reviews which have ever appeared in Variety. The critic suggested cutting 84 of the 85 minutes out and concluded that, even then, the film would be too long. Fortunately for Achternbusch he also has passionate advocates. Hubert Bals was a true fan and Achterbusch has often been a guest in Rotterdam.
