Carol Kioko

Carol Kioko is the CEO of Lemon Slice Pictures, an African Film Production company focused on the elevation of African Identity through storytelling. In 2020 Carol was selected as one of a handful of Producers from across the world participating in the inaugural Creative Producer’s Indaba, a professional training and empowerment program for Africa's emerging producers with creative vision and leadership skills. Carol has a vast 20year experience in both TV and Film across Kenya and South Africa. Her eclectic skills have seen her Produce both narrative and documentary content for the likes of MTV Base, BBC, Aljazeera and CNN International. In 2013 she introduced the 48 Hour Film Project to Nairobi. The world wide competition invites aspiring filmmakers to script, shoot, edit and score a short film in just 2days. Carol has run the competition as City Producer for 6years sending two short films to the Cannes Film Festival. Carol’s strong focus on PanAfrican storytelling drives her to CoProduce with like minded individuals on the African Continent. She is currently Producing 3 fiction feature films, and various episodic projects. Two of her feature films were selected to pitch at the 2021 Durban Film Mart, under the Durban International Film Festival. Carol was recently selected to to participate in Produie au Sud in Nantes, France, held in the framework of the 43rd Festival des 3 Continents as well as the Rotterdam Producers lab hosted in January 2022.

Lemon Slice Pictures – Kenya

Lemon Slice Pictures, a Film Production company based in Nairobi, Kenya. Formed in 2011, the company's core objective is to create African content for worldwide consumption. The company's pilot project towards this end was the ’48 Hour Film Project’ which since 2013 has produced over 50short films woking with approximately 500 filmmakers in Nairobi, Kenya. Winning shorts from this program have been featured at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015 and 2022.
The company's most recent endeavour is the growth of co-production collaborations amongst African filmmakers. In partnership with the Kwa Zulu Natal Film Commission in Durban, South Africa – LemonSlice Pictures is leading the drive towards developing film and television content through coproductions between Kenya and South Africa. This initiative has led to the development of two future films - 2065 a SciFi feature film, selected as part of Topic/Statement Films development slate and The Day and Night of Brahma, an Indian drama which was selected to participate in Produie au Sud in 2021. Both films were selected to participate in Durban Film Mart, 2021.
